About Sport Nottinghamshire
Sport Nottinghamshire's vision is: Nottinghamshire, the sporting county.
Our mission is to bring together the key sectors to ensure that everyone in Nottinghamshire has the opportunity to participate in sport and to reach their full potential.
Sport Nottinghamshire represents the County Sports Partnership for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The County Sports Partnership is a multi-agency partnership established as part of the Single System for Sport in England. The partnership includes agencies from the local community, national governing bodies of sport, education and health that are committed to working together through sport and leisure to improve the quality of life for Nottinghamshire residents.
A rich vein of sporting achievement runs through the county and people throughout the world associate the City and County with top teams and sporting heroes. Few counties are able to rival our range of facilities, the number of professional clubs and the quality of work by National Governing Bodies and Local Authorities alike.
The aims of the County Sports Partnership are to:

- Increase participation in sport and physical activity
- Improve performance in sport
- Build the capacity of the sports sector within the county
- Develop the Nottinghamshire offer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Promote the value of sport in improving quality of life
- Advocate activities such as walking, cycling and swimming as leisure pursuits
There is a great history of partnership working in sport in Nottinghamshire, from the early collaboration between county and district councils in providing joint-use leisure facilities on school sites in the 1970s to the mature network of groups and forums that now drives the sporting offer across the city and county. For more detailed information on the Frameworks for Sport and Physical Activity in Nottinghamshire, please visit the Sporting County - What's On Offer and Active County - What's On Offer pages respectively.
Sport Nottinghamshire is committed to making sport and active recreation accessible to all sections of the community. In particular, Sport Nottinghamshire will work with others to increase participation amongst people with disabilities, black and minority ethnic communities, women and girls, those on low incomes and people living in rural communities.
We want to see more people playing and participating in sport, creating happier, healthy communities and being given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
