Sports Centre Assistant ( Maternity leave cover)

An exciting fixed-term opportunity is available to provide maternity cover as a Sports Centre Assistant at our Sutton Bonington Campus. We're seeking a candidate who can further support our vision to deliver an outstanding student sporting offer and establish the University as the first choice for students wishing to combine a top quality education with an outstanding sporting experience.

The successful candidate will join a large and successful team who support a wide range of activities associated with the operation of a large, diverse range of sporting facilities. The role requires supporting the day-to-day operation of a diverse sports centre and the wider delivery of sports based programmes, providing an excellent level of customer service at all times.

This will include, the preparation of all facilities to support a variety of uses and users, the delivery of fitness classes & sports tournaments; undertaking general maintenance, routine checks & basic risk assessments of facilities;dealing with membership & booking enquiries: liaison with user groups; record keeping, cash handling and routine problem solving.

Candidates must have evidence of educational competence i.e. GCSE, or equivalent, Maths and English at Grade C or above & have an NVQ II Gym instructor qualification and/or Exercise to Music qualification, or equivalent. The successful candidate will also possess a First Aid Qualification or have the capacity to attain that qualification within three months of engagement and will be required to conform to the Department uniform regulations, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment where necessary and whenever advised to do so.

Hours of work are an average 36¼ per week working a rotational shift pattern.  Candidates will need to be flexible in their approach to their working hours, noting that the operational hours range between 5.30am and 11 pm seven days a week. Post holders may occasionally be asked to work outside of normal working hours, for some events and essential building maintenance.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 6 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
