Festival of Sport

We will be focussing on Running over the next few weeks.  Nottingham is home to the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, which is a fantastic facility and easily accessible, just off the A52 between West Bridgford and Gamston.  The centre is not just for elite athletes, it's available to all sections of the community and there's plenty of sport and recreation activities that take place there.  Visit their site to find out all of the different things you can do there.

FREE Open Days!
The Shape Up Notts! Festival of Sport continues in May with a series of open days and taster sessions enabling you to try out some of the fantastic running clubs we have in Notts. There are still a few open days for the rowers amongst us left, so why not try one of these as well...

Erewash Valley Running Club
Erewash Valley Running Club is a small, friendly running club with a diverse membership - from people who run just for fun to serious competitive athletes.  Their members take part in all types of running events - from local 5k and 10k races to overseas marathons.     The club has a particularly active fell running section and a lively social scene and takes part in the local cross country and road race leagues.
New members (aged 16+) are welcome on club nights and are invited to turn up and run with them.  While the club doesn't cater for absolute beginners, novice and inexperienced runners are welcome.
The club meets at  Friesland Leisure Centre, Nursery Avenue, Sandiacre every Wednesday at 6:45 pm. (½ mile off Junction 25 of the M1)

The morning will allow you to look round the new Club (An amalgamation of the Nottingham Boat Club and the Nottingham Britannia Rowing Club) Located between Trent Bridge and the Forest Ground.

Talk to members, try the indoor rowing machines and even go out on the water with experienced rowers. Whether you want to race, mess about in a boat or you just want to give it a go this is for you.
As Mr Toad says in the Wind in the Willows "There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats".
