Clumber Park step-in to host the ERRA Road Relays

Road Running Elite

The ERRA Men’s Six-Stage and Women’s Four-Stage Road Relays will be staged at Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire.

The event, which could not be held at the usual West Midlands venue of Sutton Park due to an E.coli outbreak, will take place on the 4000-acre site just south of Worksop on October 13. Meanwhile, the young athletes’ event, which had been scheduled to be held in conjunction, has been moved to April.

A Spokesman for the English Road Runners Association said:

"Since the original cancellation of the road relays we are delighted to have received several offers of help.  Of all the offers we had, [including Sandringham and Chatsworth], by far the most accessible, practical and agreeable for fast road-running, is the magnificent Clumber Park in Notts. Set in over 4,000 acres, it is truly a road runner’s paradise. Thus we will be staging the Senior Men’s 6 stage and Senior Women’s 4 stage at Clumber on 13th October.  Women’s race 1.30pm, Men’s race 2.30pm."

QUALIFIERS  As is tradition, the women’s race is open to all affiliated clubs.  The men’s is by qualification through their area championship (the first 25 teams). As the Midland championship did not take place, the first 25 teams in either 2009, 2010 or
2011 will be accepted.
