Councils launch new Parkrun Events

Have you been watching the London 2012 Games? Been inspired by the likes of Jess Ennis, Mo Farah or Richard Whitehead? Then we have a fantastic opportunity for you.

As part of the Legacy of the London 2012 Games the Notts Sports Makers Team, in partnership with Mansfield District Council & Rushcliffe Borough Council, are launching two new Parkrun events in September & October. These runs will take place in Manor Park, Mansfield and Rushcliffe Country Park. We will need 2 teams of 12 volunteers to help support these runs.

Nottingham City Parkrun has arrived! Colwick Country Park has been chosen as the venue for the Nottingham parkrun which takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. This FREE activity sees well over 100 people taking part and completing their 5km challenge every week.

The Mansfield Parkrun will launch on the 29th September. This run will take place at Manor Park Sports Complex, Kingsley Avenue, Mansfield Woodhouse, NG19 8JY.  Volunteer training for this run will be on Monday 17th September 2012 6:00pm-9:00pm at the run venue. The Rushcliffe Parkrun will launch on the 6th October. This run will take place at Rushcliffe Country Park, Mere Way, Ruddington, Nottingham, NG11 6JS. Volunteer training date for this run is still to be confirmed but the proposed date is Wednesday 3rd October 2012 6:00pm-9:00pm. Parkrun’s are 5k runs that start at 9am every Saturday from the launch of the event, for more information visit www.parkrun.com.

Don’t fancy coming to help out? Then why not get a group of friends together and come along and run it, its completely FREE. Simply register on www.parkrun.com print off your bar code and turn up.
