Rebound

Rebound Basketball is a project designed to get more people aged 14+ playing recreational basketball in Nottinghamshire. The sessions are relaxed and social, they are aimed at people who are new to basketball or for those who no longer play but want to get back into the sport.

The project is not really aimed at people who are already playing basketball for a local or national league team/club but they are welcome to attend. Below are case studies from some of the regular Rebound basketball attendees from Nottingham Trent University (NTU). Find out what they had to say about the project:

Richard who attends this session actually encouraged me to join.

What motivated you to attend?

I get to play basketball for free and get coached at the same time and that's brilliant.

What is important about the session and what do you get out of it?

I love the fitness that you get from basketball and I can practice reps.

Is the timing of the session a problem for you? If so please outline preferable times/ days and location.

It’s the perfect time in my view, I can come during my lunch break.

How active where you before you started attending the Rebound sessions?

I was very active and I still am, I play for the Trent basketball team.

Do you feel as if you are more active now?

I feel more active now I’m participating in more basketball sessions like Rebound.

Do you participate in any other sports/ physical activities outside of work?

No, I just like to get involved in basketball sessions at NTU.

Have you considered attending any additional community Rebound sessions?

I haven’t heard of any other sessions.

Why do you think it’s important for more NTU staff/ students to attend this Rebound Staff session?

It’s good for competition and overall fitness.

I get to be social, have fun and improve my fitness in one session. It’s great because you develop a basketball family at NTU.

Is the timing of the session a problem for you? If so please outline preferable times/ days and location.

I think lunchtime is good for some people and can be a squeeze for other staff members, but the time is great for me.

How active where you before you started attending the Rebound sessions?

I am very active and have been most of my life.

Do you feel as if you are more active now?

No, like I said I’m an active person.

Do you participate in any other sports/ physical activities outside of work?

I do weightlifting in my spare time.

Have you considered attending any additional community Rebound sessions?

Yes, I just need to consider which sessions to go to.

Why do you think it’s important for more NTU staff members to attend this Rebound Staff session?

It’s really sociable, by mixing fitness and happiness you’ll be more productive at work.
